At Drug Free Adams County, we were intrigued by the idea of putting a face on the issue of addiction in our community. The Facing Project is an opportunity to better understand the true impact of addiction on our community. And like so many things in life, the reward is in the journey not just the end product. Although, we are looking forward to the final product – a book that documents the effects of addiction in Adams County, it is the process of gathering stories and learning about each other that is the true reward.

During the next few months, we will be meeting with individuals in our community who have been impacted by alcohol, heroin, marijuana, cocaine and even prescription medicine abuse. We will talk with addicted individuals, their families, neighbors, educators, law enforcement, spiritual leaders and recovery specialists. We will document each story with a narrative and photos. Finally, all of the information will be compiled into a book that will be distributed throughout the community.

Watch for upcoming posts that explain more about the Facing Project and how you can be involved. Thank you in advance for your support!
