We recently had the opportunity to travel to Rome, Georgia, to speak at the Bonner Summer Leadership Institute for college students and advisors from across the country. This was important for two reasons:
1. The theme of the conference was “Live Your Legacy.” Part of our message when we give talks is finding your super power and using that to make a difference. Ours is storytelling and community organizing, and we hope we inspired attendees to look at themselves and discover that their own power to make an impact may already be at their fingertips.
2. We got to share the stage with the organizers of “Facing HOPE in Rome, Georgia.”
Listening to project leader Juliana Breithaupt discuss the ways Facing HOPE impacted her, students, and the greater Rome community reminded us that a spark from one person’s legacy can lead to another person being inspired to change an entire community that then may lead to many legacies being born.
