Red Carpet Roll Out for Teenage Girls in South Bend

South Bend, Indiana, recently held their book release and video premiere event for their Facing Project, “Facing the Future through the Voices of Teenage Girls.”  Nearly 150 folks turned out to celebrate the stories of 17 teenage girls from the South Bend area.

And the organizers for the event rolled out the red carpet for the girls—literally!

The girls who shared their stories for the project were treated to a night of celebrity life.  Their evening started in the late afternoon where the girls had stylist and make-up artist glam them up, and then each had a special gown selected for their sashay down the red carpet.  Lights, camera, and action were all abound as the girls made their way into the book release and video premiere.

Kudos to the staff at Sister 2 Sister, Ivy Tech Community College—North Central, and Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s office for celebrating their stories and making it a night the girls won’t forget.

Here is a story from one of the girls as told to writer Adrian Six, “To Myself the First Day of Freshman Year.”
