My New Life Starts Today

Facing Voices of Teenage Girls in South Bend, Indiana, Teens

A few months ago my life suddenly changed
I found out that I was pregnant and I am
only 17 years old
While this has come earlier than I expected,
I will soon be a
mommy to my son
It will be my responsibility to care for my child
To feed him, to clothe him, to teach him,
and to keep him safe
And most importantly, to love him the best
way that I can
Parenthood is going to be tough, I know that it will
There will be nothing easy about being a mommy
I know that I will face many challenges
along the way
I know that life will be harder now for me than what it will be for many other girls my age
I promise myself that even though I am really young
I will give all that I can and will always do my best
Because my life has
suddenly changed
And my life is not only about me anymore
I am no longer a
17 year old teen
I am now a Mommy.
