J.R. Jamison & Kelsey Timmerman
As acclaimed public speakers and founders of The Facing Project, J.R. and Kelsey are passionate about helping communities tell their stories and giving a voice to those who often go unheard.
J.R. has spent more than a decade connecting higher education and nonprofits through meaningful community engagement partnerships. His work has been adopted by more than 40 campuses and communities across the globe, and he has written and won over $7 million of grants to support communities in their efforts. His work has appeared in national journals, books, The Guardian, The Huffington Post, Harlem World Magazine, and on NPR.
Kelsey has spent more than a decade traveling the world and helping people share their stories. He is the New York Times Bestselling author of WHERE AM I WEARING? A GLOBAL TOUR TO THE COUNTRIES, FACTORIES, AND PEOPLE THAT MAKE OUR CLOTHES and WHERE AM I EATING? A JOURNEY THROUGH THE GLOBAL FOOD ECONOMY. J.R. and Kelsey host The Facing Project Radio Show on NPR.
J.R. and Kelsey have spoken to hundreds of conferences, universities, and speakers’ series around the nation and the world. Their talks share their own journeys of becoming engaged citizens which then led to the founding of The Facing Project. Through humor, readings, and good old-fashioned storytelling, the two will connect the accomplishments of previous Facing Projects to the narrative of the nationwide movement, all while helping the audience understand how to use their own passions to build and strengthen their own communities.
